Caim

The Caim (pronounced ky-m) is a traditional Celtic “encircling” prayer or ritual used for protection, invoking a sense of sacred space and divine presence. Originating from Scottish Gaelic, it involves drawing an invisible circle around oneself or others, often moving clockwise (sunwise), to symbolise safety, unity, and separation from negative forces.

Protection and presence

It can be gently adapted to suit many types of ceremony, including weddings, baby blessings, and moments of transition or remembrance. The circle can be invisible or formed with petals, stone or something meaningful to you. During the ritual, words of intention and protection are spoken while the circle is being formed, creating a sense of calm, grounding, and connection. It offers a quiet yet powerful way to honour the people involved, marking the moment as sacred, held, and supported.

Every ceremony begins with a conversation.

Whether you’re at the very beginning or already have a clear idea in mind, a simple conversation is often the best place to start. There’s no pressure — just a chance to explore what feels right for you.
