Vow renewals possibly my favourite ceremony. A time when two people who have experienced so much together, stand side by side to renew their vows. Not the same vows they said all those years ago, because vows are living things and change over time.

A vow renewal is not so much about a new beginning but a coming together at a heart and soul level.

Olaf and Claudia came to Edinburgh to do just that. They found a hotel that had a lovely conservatory, it was small and intimate and perfect for the occasion. And when the time came after the fun and laughter, they looked deep into one another’s eyes and spoke from the depth of the heart. They spoke in German, but I didn’t need to understand the words they spoke, because their love was so strong it allowed me to feel the words. It was such a truly special ceremony.
